Evicting Long-Staying TOXIC Tenants

It's annoying that people live with a "sentimental value" in mind. There are a lot of things that some people probably grew up with. As a 1990s child, I grew up on this and that. Some people may remember the good old days with Adobe Photoshop. I remember seeing people use MS Paint, telling them to try Photoshop and teach some basics, and I enjoyed using the program. However, Adobe's monthly subscription model is costly . Why should I pay for PHP 3,000+ for nostalgia? The same can go for tenants. Just because a tenant has been there for at least a decade, doesn't mean that these tenants should be coddled for "sentimental reasons". Why should tenants who have been there for more than ten years, be allowed to stay there, if they're toxic? If I could ditch Adobe after many years, the same would be true for toxic tenants . It's crazy when erring tenants say, "But come on, I've rented your place for more than 10 years." Is it me or are to...

The Economic Ignorance of Saying Landlords and Stock Traders Contribute Nothing to Society

Finding anti-capitalist (or better said, anti-business) wokes on Facebook (of all places) is just plain funny. Maybe, the term socialist isn't so negative since the late Lee Kuan Yew considered himself a socialist, the late Deng Xiaoping is the author of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and Vietnam still considers itself as a socialist country. The picture above this paragraph says that landlords and stock traders allegedly "contribute absolutely nothing to society". I feel compelled to write a bit of a post since, as a business graduate, I do feel insulted. Then again even if I didn't get an MBA--I do still feel insulted myself! How good landlords contribute to society   Landlords are often said to be a blight. Some say that it's the "easiest job in the world". However, managing real estate (especially rentals ) isn't as easy as some think. I wrote an essay as to why being a landowner isn't as easy as some people think . I would like to d...

Being a Landowner Isn't as Easy as Some Social Media Whiners Think

Moving.com I've seen some posts on Facebook where they actually glorify the mass murderer Mao Zedong. One of their excuses to love Mao was the death of landlords, never mind that Mao's plan for a "Great Leap Forward" came to a crash under his rule. They keep saying that landowners are evil, that it's one of the "easiest jobs in the world". What they don't realize is that being a landowner isn't an easy task. I would like to give out my thoughts (and I'm a landowner too) as to why being a landowner isn't as easy as these social media whiners think. From Moving.Com , we can read of the eight landlord obligations that show why being a landowner is never as easy as these social media whiners think: Offer a  fair housing environment To deliver the unit as scheduled to the prospective tenant Properly manage the security deposit Ensure one has a copy of the lease (and following it) Properly maintain the rental property (which requires a lot of m...
