A Terrible Experience at Malatapay - Apo Seaport, During My Vacation to Dumaguete

Image
Touristang Pobre I didn't know what to write here (for now) until I recalled my bad experience at Malatapay Seaport. I could name some bad experiences such as having to pay PHP 10.00 for a very dirty "comfort" room. Another was with my experience with the pumpboat (often called bangka) towards Apo Island.  I went to Apo Island (with a group) hoping to see the turtles. We were told to be back at 11:00 A.M. However, moving from the sea back to the boat takes time . What the people did was unthinkable. The group (including myself) left our stuff in the boat, because of the high tide. We went back at 11:05 and the boat left us, without even telling us. I fell into panic as some important things I had, were in the boat. Like what? The group leader didn't hesistate to scold the people in charge of the port, for their gross negligence . There were people's things inside. We could've paid for the overtime fee. Instead, they left because of another group. We weren'...

Five Reasons Why I Advocate Buying Local Where You Go, as a Multinational Investor and/or Tourist

Image
Getaway.PH A few years ago, I wrote an article where I talked about how multinational companies can help in the Buy Local Go Lokal campaign . Tourism may be at an all-time high (depending on the months), so some people may travel out of the country. Some people may be going out of the country or to some places in the Philippines. Much of my travel plans were squashed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, I'd like to talk about another aspect of international marketing. It's all about buying local where you go. Of course, this means doing some study about the place where you're going, what places to avoid, and the best recommendations for their local products. In life, it's a give-and-take principle, not a take-and-take principle. Various world religions and philosophies advocate the Golden Rule. This is, "Do not do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you." It can also be said, "Do unto others as you want others to do unto you." The princip...

Why I Believe in Moving Certain Holidays for Long Weekends

Image
Make no mistake that I didn't vote for Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. for president. However, I support any decisions he makes if it's good. Right now, Bongbong should move towards economic charter change, for the sake of better investments. Some Filipinos still think the problem is government corruption. Never mind that Vietnam's current head of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, ate an expensive gold-crusted steak (read here ). Backlash even continued when Ninoy Aquino Day was moved to August 23, 2024, which is a Friday. August 28 is National Heroes' Day. However, the holiday was  Yesterday was Ninoy Aquino Day. For those complaining about the movement--they need to realize it's a non-working holiday. It's not like Chinese New Year, Ramadan, Eid-El Adha, Christmas, or the Gregorian New Year. Ninoy's death anniversary has its historical significance, not some religious significance. It's not like as if Bongbong's presidential decl...
